“I want to make a public response to Erkand Shabani, whom unfortunately I cannot call a gentleman.
Apparently, he has filed a lawsuit for defamation and incitement to violence against him, regarding the moral defense that some other artists and I tried to give to Gjesti. My crime is that I called him a slave owner and said that Gjesti does not deserve to be in prison — and I stand by the words I said.
I wanted to tell you, Erkand, that what all monsters and dictators have in common is that when their end approaches, they try to cause the greatest damage possible, even while blind and deaf. I have nothing against people who are blind or deaf by nature or by life’s misfortunes, but you are blind and deaf by choice, by your own free will.
So, monsters and dictators try to strike in every direction to protect themselves or the illusion of their lives. Gjesti has made a mistake I have said that — but you are responsible for the situation Gjesti has reached, because if you had truly wanted Gjesti’s well-being, you would have found a common language with him. Artists cannot be kept by force,” he said among other things.
