Following the developments in the Deçan branch, members of the Presidency of the Guxo Party in Peja have also resigned from their positions.
In a statement, party member Ruzhdi Blakaj announced that the decision to leave the party is related to what they describe as a lack of support for President Vjosa Osmani from the party’s structures in Peja.
The reaction states that the stance of Deputy Prime Minister and co-chair of Guxo, Donika Gërvalla, is concerning, as it is claimed that she lobbied against Osmani’s re-election to the position of president.
According to their statement, it is unacceptable that within the same political entity there is no support for a president who, according to them, has demonstrated integrity and continuous commitment to the state, especially in the field of foreign policy.
“For these reasons, as a sign of opposition to this approach and in defense of the principles we represent, we have decided to resign from the Guxo Party – Peja and to continue supporting President Osmani in every future decision she may take,” the statement reads.
The declaration was signed by Nezir Jahmurtaj, Ruzhdi Blakaj, Ramiz Cukaj, and Feriz Gashi, who were members of the Presidency of the Guxo branch in Peja and at the same time part of the party’s General Council.
At the end of the statement, it is also emphasized that the resignation comes due to what they describe as the failure of the party’s two co-chairs, Faton Peci and Donika Gërvalla, to step down.
