Journalist Valmira Vranovci has spoken about the differences and procedures of childbirth in the private and public sectors in Kosovo.
The discussion was prompted by a concerning statistic, according to which around 40% of women in the country have expressed dissatisfaction with their experience during childbirth.Vranovci mentioned the behavior of medical staff, specifying that the biggest problems appear with the support staff, mainly midwives.
“Verbal abuse comes precisely from nurses or midwives. It rarely happens from gynecologists or other doctors, because you have the least contact with them. You only interact with the doctor during the delivery process, not throughout the entire time you stay in the hospital,” she said on the show “Rreth e Rrotull” on RTV Dukagjini.
During the discussion, the journalist called on justice institutions, especially the Prosecution, to be more active on this issue.
She requested that the competent authorities launch investigations based on women’s public reports in the media and other platforms, and not wait for ready-made materials to be submitted to them.
