The Member of Parliament from the Democratic League of Kosovo, Janina Ymeri, has made a series of strong accusations toward the executive and the energy regulator, describing the current situation as a clear case of “institutional obstruction.
”Through a reaction that has sparked numerous responses, Ymeri said that Kosovo is entering the second consecutive year in which citizens are facing a review of tariffs for a potential price increase, without any annual plan for how the energy sector will be managed.Full statement:The fact that our money is being taken but nothing is being done for us or for transparency is evident from the fact that this is the second year in which electricity tariffs are being reviewed for a price increase, while there is no annual plan for electricity.
The Energy Regulatory Office ensures that KOSTT and KEDS do not suffer losses, while citizens are not told what is happening with our public asset, Kosovo Energy Corporation, and how much money we are losing every day.The year 2025 went exactly like this: bills increased, but we had no annual plan. Even today, there is still no official report on what happened during 2025.Now in 2026, the same scenario is being repeated: a new increase in electricity bills is being reviewed, while once again there is no plan on what will be done with electricity and thermal energy this year. Moreover, besides the electricity price, we are entering a nine-month capital overhaul of the B1 unit, and there is no information about imports.
This is not management of the electricity sector, nor merely mismanagement. This is institutional obstruction of the entire electricity sector, starting from the Prime Minister down to production an obstruction completely hidden by the Energy Regulatory Office.
