The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina has detained a person with the initials L.B. for 48 hours, as he is suspected of committing the criminal offense of “Threatening,” under Article 181 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.
According to the prosecution’s announcement, the suspect is believed to have threatened journalist Alaudin Hamiti because of his duties and profession.
“The state prosecutor has undertaken all necessary investigative actions in order to ensure his presence in the criminal proceedings, and within the legal deadline will submit a request for the imposition of one of the measures against him,” the official statement said.
The prosecution emphasizes that it remains committed to protecting journalists and respecting freedom of expression. “The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina guarantees full security for journalists and is committed to protecting them,” the statement further adds.
The host of Big Brother VIP Kosova, Alaudin Hamiti, was the target of a physical attack on February 20 in Pristina.
From the published footage, Hamiti can be seen being attacked by a person, while the circumstances of the incident have not yet been clarified. Authorities are continuing the investigation to determine the motive and the identity of the suspect.
