Singer Besart Kelmendi, known by the nickname “Gjesti,” has now been released from detention one week after his arrest in Pristina, IndeksOnline reports.
Gjesti had previously been arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons. After being questioned, he was initially held in custody for 48 hours. Later, the Basic Court in Pristina ordered a one-month pre-trial detention at the request of the prosecution.
According to the allegations raised, he was accused of several criminal offenses, including “Threatening,” “Destruction or Damage of Property,” as well as “Unauthorized ownership, control, or possession of weapons.”
However, sources say that after spending one week in pre-trial detention, the security measure against him has been changed, and he has been released to defend himself in regular legal proceedings.
The case against the singer is expected to continue within the justice authorities.
