U.S. special operators recently carried out one of the most daring rescue operations in recent memory, deep inside Iranian territory.
After an American F-15E Strike Eagle crashed, Delta Force rushed in to extract the pilot. The C-130 transport aircraft supporting the mission had become stranded. With Iranian forces approaching, the American troops made a difficult decision: they blew up their own aircraft.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said that several American aircraft were destroyed during the U.S. mission, according to the Tasnim news agency.
According to The New York Times, U.S. forces destroyed their transport planes after they became stuck at an airfield and to prevent them from falling into Iranian hands.
To buy time, American operators reportedly created craters in the roads and caused major traffic blockages, slowing down the response of Iranian military forces.
