Yesterday afternoon, the detention of the well-known artist Gjesti was reported for “illegal possession of a weapon.” However, the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina has confirmed two additional charges: “Threats” and “Destruction or damage of property.”
What happened yesterday?
According to sources from the show Prive hosted by Liberta Spahiu, the situation escalated during a confrontation at the offices of Onima, the company that manages his digital rights.
In the heat of the argument, it is reported that a computer in the office was destroyed, which forced the company’s management to immediately notify the police.
Tensions between the artist and the company had reportedly started during the summer. Gjesti had publicly accused Onima of unfair treatment, claiming they were “holding his sweat hostage” and preventing him from releasing new songs. On the other hand, the company insists that the contract is legal and claims the artist was using public pressure to terminate the agreement without taking the matter to court.
Following yesterday’s incident and the complaint filed, the artist has been placed under 48-hour detention.
