Invited this morning to the studio of the TV show “Wake Up” was Miri’s wife. She spoke more about his game in “Big Brother VIP 5,” but also clarified some misunderstandings that have been circulating in the media…
There were moments when some people thought your relationship was in doubt. How did you experience that?
I’m used to it from politics that many things are said which are not always true. It doesn’t affect me much, but there are many things that aren’t true. We haven’t separated, nor do we have any strange relationship. In fact, to clarify what has been said about Miri marrying me just for papers, Miri still hasn’t received the papers. He had the opportunity to obtain German citizenship, but he didn’t do it because he loves his homeland very much. Miri has a career here, and that career doesn’t continue if he isn’t here. We’ve debated this a lot. It was a difficult decision for us as well. We’re not always with him either. It won’t always be like this, but for now, because he can’t leave his career, and I can’t leave my job in the German parliament. It isn’t easy for us. It’s a sacrifice for us, especially for Miri, because he loves his daughter very much. It’s not simple not to be with her all the time.
Miri and his daughter are very similar in character. They have some shared rituals. They love going shopping, looking around stores, playing Nintendo, lying on the couch in the same position, and they even sleep the same way. One day I brought the television to the BBV house and Miri was still asleep. I went into the bedroom and saw that the girl was sleeping in exactly the same position too.
