A Serb suspected of war crimes has been arrested in the village of Soçanicë in Leposavić.
Veriu.info reports, citing sources, that the arrested individual was a former member of the Kosovo Police. According to the outlet, the suspect is D. Pelevic.
In the Kosovo Police announcement, it is stated that the suspect, arrested in the village of Soçanicë in Leposavić, is suspected that in March 1999 in Skenderaj, acting in co-perpetration, he beat, tortured, injured, and killed 15 Albanian civilians, as well as disappeared 16 other civilians in two locations in this municipality.
“The Kosovo Police, namely the War Crimes Investigation Directorate, on 14.04.2026 in the village of Soçanicë, Leposavić, arrested the suspect, a male Kosovar citizen of Serbian nationality, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of War Crimes Against the Civilian Population.
The aforementioned suspect, based on the conducted investigations, is suspected that in the capacity of a member of the Serbian MUP during the war in Kosovo, stationed at the Police Station in Skenderaj, in uniform and armed, in March 1999 in Skenderaj, in co-perpetration with other members organized as a group, participated in a police-military operation, where they forcibly expelled civilians from their properties, beat, tortured, injured, and killed fifteen (15) Albanian civilians, as well as disappeared sixteen (16) other civilians in two locations in Skenderaj,” the statement says.
Regarding the case, the suspect was interviewed in the presence of a lawyer, and by decision of the case prosecutor, he has been placed in 48-hour detention. /Insajderi.org/
