Trump warns Iran: Time for a deal is running out

US President Donald Trump has expressed frustration with Iran’s approach to negotiations, warning that time for a deal is running out.

Trump says Iranian negotiators need to get serious before it’s too late, reports say NBC News

“The Iranian negotiators are very different and ‘strange.’ They are ‘begging’ for a deal, which they should be doing since they are militarily destroyed, with no chance of recovery, and yet they publicly say they are only ‘considering our proposal.’ WRONG!!!” Trump said.

“They need to get serious very soon, before it’s too late, because once this happens, there’s NO RETURN and it won’t be pretty,” he added.

Trump’s statement comes after he said earlier this week that the US and Iran were negotiating to end the conflict, marking a major shift from his previous stance.

The president’s warning also comes after statements yesterday, in which he said that Iran wants “to make a deal so badly, but they’re afraid to say it” publicly because of the domestic consequences.

The White House has said the talks are not at a standstill, even after Tehran did not immediately accept a U.S.-backed framework to end the war. U.S. officials told CNN that the administration is working to arrange a possible meeting in Pakistan as part of efforts to find a way out of the conflict.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has acknowledged that messages were exchanged through intermediaries, but has expressed skepticism about Washington’s stance.
