Elbasan Police have revealed new details about cannabis that was hidden in a warehouse in Peqin.
According to the police, one person has been arrested for “abuse of office,” while two suspected perpetrators (relatives of each other) and two other citizens have been declared wanted for “abuse of office.”
It was also reported that 1,105 pots in which narcotic cannabis plants had been cultivated were seized, some of which were destroyed by burning.
Following the information provided yesterday, within the framework of the operation “Kurtaj,” carried out in the village of Kurtaj, Administrative Unit Gjocaj, Municipality of Peqin, the State Police structures, under the direction of the Elbasan Prosecution Office, continued investigative and verification actions.
Further checks revealed that in this underground facility adapted for cultivating narcotic plants, 1,105 pots containing suspected cannabis plants and seedlings were found, as well as numerous electrical devices used for this criminal activity.
As part of the procedural actions, E.D., 23 years old, a resident of Gjocaj, Peqin, working as an electricity billing clerk, was arrested in flagrante for the criminal offense of “abuse of office.”
The following individuals were also declared wanted:
R.H., 30 years old, for the criminal offense of “cultivation of narcotic plants,” the owner of the premises where the narcotic plants were found;
E.H., 24 years old, resident of Kurtaj (a relative of R.H.), suspected of “cultivation of narcotic plants” and “manufacturing, possession, purchase or sale of cold weapons without a permit”;
E.M., 36 years old, an OSHEE supervisor, for “abuse of office”;
D.E., 34 years old, an OSHEE supervisor, for “abuse of office.”
A day earlier, the director of the Rrogozhina Prison, Bilal Hasa, voluntarily surrendered to the police as a suspect and was released a day later after giving his testimony.
Investigative actions carried out under the direction of the Prosecution revealed that the premises where the criminal activity was discovered are owned and administered by his brother, R.H.
The procedural materials were forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Elbasan for the criminal offenses of “cultivation of narcotic plants,” “abuse of office,” and “manufacturing, possession, purchase or sale of cold weapons without a permit.”
