During the time when Donika Gërvalla was serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs, the ministry purchased 500 copies of the book Masakrat në Kosovë 1998-1999 by Shkëlzen Gashi, with the aim of distributing them through Kosovo’s diplomatic missions. The content of the book was the same as that of the exhibition set up in the capital’s main square, whose permit was later suspended by the Municipality of Pristina due to claims that it distorted reality.
According to the contract description, the distribution of these books was intended to achieve the effect of “raising international awareness.”
Through this book, the aim was also to provide an overview of the developments that occurred in Kosovo, while the description stated:
“Many countries still do not have a full or accurate understanding of what happened in Kosovo during the years 1998–1999. A book that presents verified facts helps inform international opinion and strengthens the cause of justice.”
This project by the ministry cost 14,999 euros, according to a report by Betimi për Drejtësi, as reported by Insajd eri.
