Israel confirms killing of Iranian commander of the Oil Directorate

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck and killed Jamshid Eshaqim, the commander of the Oil Directorate of Iran’s Armed Forces.

“The Oil Directorate constitutes an essential part of the regime’s armed forces, enabling the continuation of their activities and military buildup through profits from oil sales,” the IDF said.

The strike that killed Eshaqim occurred earlier this week, the military said, adding that it was carried out based on intelligence provided by the IDF Intelligence Directorate.

“Eshaqim led the financial arm of the regime’s forces, as well as the military industry responsible for the production of ballistic missiles and the regime’s repression mechanisms. In addition, Eshaqim worked to allocate funds to finance Iran’s terrorist proxies throughout the Middle East, most notably the terrorist organization Hezbollah and the Houthis,” the Israeli military further stated.

The army added that, for years, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and other military forces have been funded by substantial revenues from oil sales that circumvent international sanctions.

To manage these revenues, Iran established dedicated directorates, making oil income a key source for strengthening the Islamic Republic’s power and financing terrorist activities worldwide.
