Iran has expressed its readiness to help Japanese ships safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told the Japanese news agency Kyodo News that his country has not closed the strait and that it remains open.
According to him, Iran imposes restrictions on countries that attack it, but is ready to provideassistance to others, as in the case of Japan. The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic route for global oil supplies, through which a large part of oil imports to Japan, which depends heavily on the Middle East for its energy supplies, passes.
Japan has begun using its strategic oil reserves to cope with the impact of the crisis and rising prices, while member countries of the International Energy Agency have agreed to use emergency reserves to stabilize the global oil market in the context of the conflict in the Middle East.
