The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Sunday that he believes there is a “good chance” of reaching a deal with Iran on Monday.
Such a development is expected to happen before his deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face heavy bombardment.
“I think there’s a good chance tomorrow; they’re negotiating now,” the president told a reporter from Fox News.
“If they don’t reach a deal—and quickly—I’m thinking of blowing everything up and taking the oil,” he added.
Earlier on Sunday, Trump said in a strongly worded post on social media that the U.S. would target Iran’s power plants and bridges on Tuesday if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day and Bridge Day, all wrapped into one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, referring to the key maritime shipping corridor that Tehran has effectively closed since the U.S. and Israel began strikes on Iran more than a month ago.
“Open the damn Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll live in hell—JUST WATCH!” Trump said.
