Çitaku: Our taxes are being used to finance Serbia’s narratives

The Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) walked out of the Assembly session on Thursday after their request to place the draft resolution on protecting the truth and the victims of the war as the first item on the agenda for voting was not accepted.

The initiative was proposed by PDK MP Vlora Çitaku, who requested that the issue be treated with full priority, describing it as one of the most important topics for the Assembly.

After failing to reach a compromise with the Vetëvendosje Movement, which requested that the draft be harmonized with its proposals, PDK decided to withdraw the document and leave the hall. According to Çitaku, the text had been submitted since Wednesday and there had been sufficient time for review.

In a statement to FIVE, Çitaku emphasized that the Assembly failed to address an issue that, according to her, is essential for the state.

“There was no issue today more important, neither for debate, discussion, nor approval. Our history is being attacked from the outside and, unfortunately, some elements are being financed from within. Today, on behalf of PDK, Nait Hasani spoke, a survivor of the Dubrava massacre. We also have other colleagues who are survivors of that massacre. And for narratives created in Serbia to be sponsored with our taxes is unacceptable…,” Çitaku said.
