Former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Faton Peci, announced that the Prosecution has dismissed the criminal complaint filed by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) against him regarding the distribution of agricultural grants.
Through a statement on his Facebook account, Peci described this decision as a triumph of justice.
The former minister did not stop at defending himself but also announced legal counteraction against LDK leaders.
He accused LDK officials of orchestrating a smear campaign to damage his image, vowing that they will face each other in court for “false reporting.”
Full statement:
JUSTICE SPOKE CLEARLY:
The Prosecution dismisses LDK’s criminal complaint against me regarding agricultural grants.
During my time as Minister of Agriculture, this institution was fundamentally reformed; it was the period when farmers, for the first time:
• No longer paid bribes to benefit from grants.
• 360 million euros were distributed to 130,000 beneficiary farmers; there was not a single proven case of someone benefiting outside the criteria defined by law.
Out of 130,000 beneficiary farmers, it was “traced” and “discovered” that one was the brother of an MP, but no evidence of my influence was found—simply because it did not exist.
Meanwhile, during my interview at the prosecution, LDK’s “protégé,” Guri, had stated that he could hardly wait to see me in court. Yes, we will meet in court, because starting today, preparations begin for a criminal complaint for false reporting, conceived by Lumir Abdixhiku, signed by Hykmete Bajrami, and propagated with slander and shamelessness by their “mouthpiece,” Guri.
All three will face criminal charges for false reporting, which fueled a media campaign of pressure against me for more than two years.
This situation has been difficult for me and my family, but I have always believed in my justice and integrity.
Therefore, one thing is certain: under no circumstances, at no time, did I contact, instruct, or recommend anyone regarding subsidies, grants, announcements, contracts, or tenders to any professional groups in this process.
I am proud that this institution will continue to succeed even after my mandate, thanks to the good work we left behind.
Anyone aiming to damage my image may continue their pursuit, but one thing is certain: my governance as Minister of Agriculture marks the brightest period of agricultural development in a quarter of a century.
I thank all citizens who were not manipulated by this low, dirty, and bizarre game.
bizare.
