Viktor Buzhala reveals reason for leaving “Guxo”: “I didn’t want to be there when Vjosa Osmani takes over the party from outside”

Viktor Buzhala announced today his departure from the “Guxo” party, stating that it is not enough for him to remain just a simple member of a political subject.

During a television appearance on the show “Pressing,” he revealed that he also declined the position of deputy minister, while explaining the reasons behind this decision.

According to him, the “Guxo” party has no future in its current format, as he expects President Vjosa Osmani to take control of it once she completes her term as head of state.

“The main reason why I did not accept the position of deputy minister is related to the fact that I believe Vjosa Osmani could not take over the ‘Guxo’ party from within, but will manage to take it from outside. I do not see a future in ‘Guxo,’ at least not in its current format,” he said.

Buzhala stated that this conclusion is based on certain internal communications he has seen, which, according to him, signal major changes within the party.

“I have seen some communications that lead to the conclusion that she may take over the party from outside in the coming days—Vjosa Osmani, the president, who in a few days will no longer be president—and for that reason, I did not want to be there when that happens,” he said.

He clarified that he remains a firm supporter of Albin Kurti and the coalition with the Lëvizja Vetëvendosje, adding that his distancing from President Osmani began earlier and is not a sudden decision.

“I have been in Guxo because of my beliefs, which have not changed since 2014—they are pro-Albin Kurti and pro-Vetëvendosje—and I was in Guxo precisely because they are in coalition with VV. The Presidency reacted to me twice; Bekim Kupina himself reacted to my posts, which means I had distanced myself from Vjosa Osmani earlier, not just now,” Buzhala stated.

The former “Guxo” member said he does not see himself following the political path that the rest of the party is expected to take.

“I think a considerable part of Guxo will go in that direction, and I do not see myself in that path—that is the reason I have withdrawn.”
