Exhibition on the massacres, Minister Hoti finds another inaccuracy: Prosecutor’s Office should review the case

Andin Hoti, Minister for Labor, Family and the Values of the Liberation War, has reacted regarding the exhibition in Pristina’s main square about the massacres in Kosovo.

It states there that in the Dubrava massacre, 48 armed Albanians were killed.

Hoti said that there are also inaccuracies regarding the massacre in Krusha e Madhe, noting that besides mistakes in the number of victims, a dangerous and untrue narrative is also presented according to which women and children were allegedly allowed to leave, while the men were killed.

“These are not simple technical mistakes, but distortions that risk relativizing the crimes and reinforcing false narratives. As Minister of the Ministry for Labor, Family and the Values of the Liberation War, I call for: – The immediate withdrawal of materials that contain inaccuracies; – A full institutional verification of the content of public exhibitions about war crimes,” Hoti wrote among other things.

The post:

The display in Pristina’s square of materials containing inaccuracies about the crimes committed during the war in Kosovo is unacceptable and directly undermines the historical truth.

Within the framework of a public exhibition about the massacres of the 1998/99 war, cases have been identified where facts were presented incorrectly and, in some cases, even in a distorted manner.

In the case of the massacre in Krusha e Madhe, besides inaccuracies in the number of victims, a dangerous and untrue narrative is presented according to which women and children were allegedly allowed to leave, while the men were killed.

This is not true.

In Krusha e Madhe, women were also killed, including pregnant women, which refutes any attempt to portray this crime as a “selective” act.

In the case of the massacre at Dubrava Prison, the number of victims does not match the confirmed data, while presenting some of them as “armed persons” is completely untrue. The Albanian prisoners were civilians, unprotected and under the full control of Serbian forces.

These are not simple technical mistakes, but distortions that risk relativizing the crimes and reinforcing false narratives.

As Minister of the Ministry for Labor, Family and the Values of the Liberation War, I call for:

– The immediate withdrawal of materials that contain inaccuracies;

– Full institutional verification of the content of public exhibitions about war crimes.

At the same time, I call on the responsible institutions, including the State Prosecutor’s Office and the mechanisms for investigating war crimes, to review this issue.

The truth about the crimes committed in Kosovo cannot and must not be distorted.

It is the foundation of justice and an obligation to the victims, their families, and our history.
