The Government’s scandal with the exhibition in the square

The so-called exhibition “Massacres in Kosovo 1998-1999” is located in “Mother Teresa” Square in Pristina. The exhibition is based on Shkëlzen Gashi’s book “Massacres in Kosovo 1998-1999”.

Sadik Zeqiri, a survivor of the Dubrava prison massacre, has reacted harshly to this exhibition, calling it shameful.

“Shame! The truth is being distorted in the square of Pristina. History is not a toy that you can distort with a few inaccurate tables. Have you seen what you wrote about the Dubrava massacre? How is it possible to claim that 48 armed Albanians and 58 civilians were killed in Dubrava? Where did you get these “facts”? In Serbia?

Furthermore, he focused precisely on the phrase “”armed Albanians”.

“There were no armed prisoners in Dubrava. Everyone was helpless and defenseless. The truth is this: 116 Albanian prisoners were killed, while Ukshin Hoti is still missing. Over 400 others were injured. This is not just a mistake – it is a serious distortion of the truth. Shame on you. Even an apology is not enough.”, he wrote.

But Kurti’s former advisor said that in compiling the list of those killed, they relied on the list of those killed from the “Kosovo Memory Book” of the Humanitarian Law Center (HLC), an organization led by Natasha Kandic.

How Serbian propaganda was re-spread through Albin Kurti’s former advisor and supporter

Former advisor to Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Shkëlzen Gashi, resigned from this role after some of his statements regarding the KLA and war crimes. But it turns out that he also made other strange statements a few years ago.

In a show hosted by Mefail Bajqinovci, who is today a Vetëvendosje MP, Gashi spoke in extremely harsh tones towards the KLA, even calling them criminal groups.

“That is, the basis of the corruption of these criminal groups is unity, in war. And when this is touched upon, it does not mean that a special war is being waged against the liberation war. Those who do the most harm to the liberation war are precisely these people who lead the country today…”

He further disputes international justice and the judicial processes that were conducted against KLA members, specifically Fatmir Limaj and Ramush Haradinaj.

“I don’t think the fact that these people were acquitted from court proceedings… doesn’t make them innocent.” – Mr. Gashi continued.

But, in a later part of the debate, he tries to make a distinction between the KLA, the LKÇK, and the FARK, saying that war crimes were committed only by the former.

“My main concern is that these people who are in power, all come from the KLA. Like in Llap with Remi, like in Drenica with Limaj, like in Dukagjin with Haradinaj… that is, they all come from the KLA. How do you explain the fact that from the two other military organizations that we had during the war, the LKÇK and the FARK, we have not a single person accused of war crimes. We only have people from the KLA accused of war crimes,” he says from the minute 1: 15: 50.
