The Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, has stated that the alliance cannot currently confirm Israel’s claims that Iran possesses missiles capable of striking European capitals.
The statement comes after the Israel Defense Forces announced on Saturday that Iran already has missiles that could reach cities such as London, Paris, and Berlin.
In an interview, Rutte emphasized that NATO is reviewing these claims, but there is still no evidence confirming them.
He added that if these claims turn out to be true, it would be further proof of the importance of the measures taken by allies for international security.
However, according to him, what is known for sure is that Iran is very close to achieving this missile capability.
Rutte also said that NATO is still assessing whether these capabilities include specific targets, such as the British base in Diego Garcia.
In conclusion, he stressed that regardless of whether the current claims are accurate or not, Iran remains very close to possessing missiles with such a range
