The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (ASK) has published the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for February 2026.
According to the report, the overall harmonized consumer price index increased by an average of 6.0% compared to February 2025, while monthly inflation in February 2026 was 0.6%.ASK explains that the 6% increase was mainly driven by higher prices in several COICOP groups and subgroups, including:other services related to personal transport equipment (42.5%)air transport tickets (39.0%)water supply and various housing-related services (33.4%)solid fuels such as firewood and pellets (16.8%)fruits (16.4%)maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment (15.1%)meat (14.7%)
Significant increases were also observed in:package holidays (13.2%)outpatient services (9.6%)hotel services (9.5%)coffee, tea and cocoa (9.3%)fish (8.0%)sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets (7.4%)tools and equipment for house and garden (6.7%)personal care (6.6%)vegetables (6.4%)alcoholic beverages (6.4%)goods and services for routine household maintenance (6.1%)milk, cheese and eggs (5.6%)According to ASK, further increases were recorded in:maintenance and repair of dwellings (5.5%)food products (5.4%)personal items (5.2%)bread and cereals (5.2%)tobacco (4.2%)medical products, appliances and equipment (3.9%)furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings (3.9%)clothing (3.3%)oils and fats (3.1%)mineral water, soft drinks and fruit and vegetable juices (2.7%)These groups together contributed 6.4% to the HICP.
On the other hand, prices decreased in the group of fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment (-7.6%), contributing -0.4% to the HICP.
Regarding the monthly comparison (February 2026 vs. January 2026), inflation reached 0.6%.ASK states that this increase was mainly due to higher consumer prices in groups and subgroups such as:other services related to personal transport equipment (24.4%)vegetables (5.8%)fruits (4.0%)audiovisual, photographic and information processing equipment (3.8%)Other increases were recorded in:outpatient services (2.4%)meat (2.4%)hotel services (1.9%)sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweets (1.9%)tools and equipment for house and garden (1.7%)fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment (1.5%)household appliances (1.4%)coffee, tea and cocoa (1.3%)personal care (1.3%)solid fuels such as firewood and pellets (1.2%)bread and cereals (0.6%)Together, these subgroups contributed 1.1% to the HICP, according to ASK.
Meanwhile, monthly price decreases were recorded in:air transport tickets (-18.2%)electricity (-4.3%)milk, cheese and eggs (-2.8%)These declines had a combined impact of -0.5% on the HICP, the statement from ASK said.
