Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz has criticized the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, regarding a joint editorial he published with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, in the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
She said it creates the impression that whenever Vučić finds himself under pressure from the European Union, Rama comes out in support of him.
“From Prime Minister Rama’s side, who goes beyond even those moments when we have previously turned a blind eye, there is the latest article published together with Vučić in the prestigious German newspaper. I believe that the citizens of Kosovo will not forgive Prime Minister Rama for that article. Because it creates the impression time after time that whenever Vučić is pushed against the wall by the EU and Europe, Edi Rama appears and pulls him out of that situation. There should be no alternatives for Albania with Serbia that do not pass through Kosovo. The road from Tirana to Belgrade goes through Pristina — geographically, economically, and in every aspect.
Therefore, any Albanian prime minister or president who forgets this should know that in the long term they will make major mistakes that will damage our nation even more,” she said on Radio Television of Kosovo.
Gërvalla’s statement comes after a joint editorial by Prime Minister Edi Rama and President Aleksandar Vučić published in Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
In this editorial, Rama and Vučić propose that Albania and Serbia could become part of the European Union even without veto rights, without additional commissioners, and without changes to the EU’s decision-making structures.
