The Mayor of Skenderaj, Sami Lushtaku, has announced the closure of two Family Medicine clinics in the villages of Banjë and Syriganë, following findings that they were operating illegally.
According to Lushtaku, these clinics were functioning outside the legal system of the Republic of Kosovo, under the management of parallel Serbian structures.
He emphasized that inspections revealed serious violations, including medicines without official labels, expired drugs, and the use of stamps and prescriptions without the presence of a doctor.
“This situation poses a direct risk to the lives and health of citizens,” he stated, adding that all legal actions have been taken and the relevant institutions have been notified, including the Kosovo Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices.
Lushtaku also noted that these healthcare institutions may resume operations only after being fully integrated into Kosovo’s healthcare system and complying with applicable laws, in order to ensure the safety and health of all citizens without discrimination.
