A dramatic night in the canton of Lucerne shook the owners of a luxury car showroom, after an expensive Porsche was stolen by thieves. Thanks to surveillance cameras and the swift response of the police, three people were arrested just a few hours later.
The incident took place at a showroom in Rickenbach LU, where a Porsche 718 Spyder RS worth around 200,000 Swiss francs was stolen from a garage that deals in luxury car sales.
According to the account of 30-year-old Milot Berisha, co-owner of the MB Carcente showroom, everything started around 01:37, when he received a notification on his phone from the system of a Tesla parked in front of the garage.
He checked the live footage and noticed that someone was trying to open the vehicle’s door. After also reviewing the cameras inside the facility, Berisha realized that unknown individuals had entered the garage.
“People were moving inside,” he said, adding that he immediately notified the police and headed toward the garage. When he arrived at the scene, he heard the distinctive sound of the green Porsche driving away.
The stolen vehicle was a special model with 500 horsepower and, according to Berisha, was particularly recognizable due to its unique color.
Three arrested: two Russians and one French citizen
Lucerne police reacted quickly and, in cooperation with the Aargau cantonal police, managed to arrest three suspects in Dintikon AG.
According to Swiss authorities, the suspects are two Russian nationals and one French citizen, aged between 18 and 21, who do not reside in Switzerland.
According to Berisha, the thieves entered through the main entrance by breaking a window with a kick, and then opened the garage door from the inside.
He suspects that they initially intended to steal two Lamborghinis, as their compartments had been opened, suggesting they were searching for the keys.
However, since the keys are usually not kept on-site, they ultimately chose the Porsche, whose key was available there. The thieves also used a van to move a Tesla that was blocking the way and then drove off with the Porsche.
The Porsche was later seized and recovered by the police, while the total damages have not yet been fully assessed. Berisha stated that fortunately everything is insured, including the damage to the property.
“I’m just happy they caught them,” he concluded, adding that luxury car thefts have increased recently in Switzerland.
