Hysen Durmishi reveals how he expelled Shkëlzen Gashi from the offices of the Vetëvendosje Movement in 2005

Former Minister of Transport, Hysen Durmishi, has issued a reaction regarding the exhibition in Pristina’s main square about the Massacres in Kosovo, where among other things it is stated that in the Dubrava massacre 48 armed Albanians were killed.
Hysen Durmishi said that because of this narrative by Shkëlzen Gashi, in 2005 he had expelled him from the offices of the Vetëvendosje Movement.
Durmishi writes that Gashi’s tendency to distort our history and the just war of the KLA resulted in his expulsion from the Movement.
“Because of this narrative of Shkëlzen Gashi, in 2005, after a harsh clash, I personally expelled him from the offices of the VETËVENDOSJE Movement! His tendency to distort our history and the just war of the KLA resulted in his expulsion from the Movement. It is unacceptable that such exhibitions and works receive permission and are funded by our institutions. Such distortions are not simply untrue; they are a grave insult to our sacrifice and a second killing of all those who gave their lives for freedom and liberation,” Durmishi wrote.
In the “Mother Teresa” square in Pristina, the so-called exhibition “Massacres in Kosovo 1998–1999” has been set up. The exhibition is based on the book by Shkëlzen Gashi titled “Massacres in Kosovo 1998–1999.”
The exhibition has sparked reactions and criticism because, among other things, it states that in the Dubrava Massacre 48 armed Albanians and 58 unarmed civilians were killed.
Shkëlzen Gashi, a former advisor to Kurti, said in a response that for compiling the list of the killed they relied on the list from the “Kosovo Memory Book” of the Humanitarian Law Center (HLC), an organization led by Natasha Kandić.
