German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said today that Germany will not participate in the war between the United States and Israel against Iran.
“We lack the mandate from the United Nations, the European Union, or NATO required under the Basic Law. Therefore, from the very beginning it was clear that this war is not a matter for NATO,” Merz said at a press conference in Berlin.
“The United States and Israel did not consult us before this war. As far as Iran is concerned, there has never been a joint decision on whether this issue would happen. That is why the question of how Germany could become militarily involved here does not arise,” he added.
